Southside Tattoo & Body Piercing

Such a great experience that I came back a week later for more piercings and have brought all of my friends here. My go-to place for piercings. Easy walk-in process and super clean. A few weeks later and all of my piercings are healing great. Dan was awesome!

I got my nose piercing and my first tattoo from this place, I love it so much and their service was amazing!! I was nervous for my tattoo but my artist Brandon was so funny and continued to talk to me the whole time and I had such a good time. I went back again a few days later with my friend for her first tattoo and that was an amazing time too. They are all very friendly and making an appointment was very easy and very accommodating!!

This is my second time giving a bad review because I went to another professional piercer to get a second opinion. Not only was the piercing horribly crooked like I stated before, but it was done too far down touching the middle of my inner labia when it is supposed to be at the top. Not only that but they also used the wrong jewelry. They used a belly button ring which has too much of a curve for it to of possibly healed. Either an L bent bar or softer curve bar is standard for a Christina piercing. Not only that but they also told me the wrong aftercare. They also ridiculously overpriced it charging over $100 for it when I got it re-pierced correctly for only $65. As I also stated before the customer service was absolutely terrible where after the first time I went back they tried to convince me it was correct then after the second time they pierced it wrong they laughed at me on the phone while I was crying about the piercing being way off center. I would never recommend this shop for any type of genital piercing especially as a woman. The professional piercer that I went to for another opinion was absolutely appalled by how the piercing was done so I know I’m not being dramatic. This other piercer re-pierced it correctly and I haven’t had any issues since so clearly they know what they were doing!

Came here for a helix piercing. The piercer was so nice (I believe it’s Morgan) and the placement was perfect, piercing was basically painless, and the price is great ($40, jewelry included). However, the jewelry they gave me is a butterfly back and not suitable for a cartilage piercing. It is too tight, I cannot clean under it, and there is increased risk for infection or that my ear will literally swell around it. I didn’t realize this when they put it in my ear and I’m not sure if they offer longer bars or flat back. I believe a reputable piercer should know better. I now have to pay for an appointment somewhere else to get proper jewelry put in. If they fixed this and offered proper jewelry and piercing education, this would 100% be my go-to place.

I have been going to Southside Tattoo for years and have received many great tattoos there, which makes writing this especially disappointing. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was the worst I’ve had, and I will not be returning. I scheduled an appointment with Garrick, who had previously done a few of my tattoos as walk-ins. Because this was a booked appointment, I provided multiple emails with reference photos and detailed explanations of what I wanted, assuming this would allow adequate time for preparation and planning. When I arrived for my appointment, I waited approximately four hours in the waiting room before being brought back. Once we began reviewing the design, the stencil did not match what I had clearly communicated. I politely asked for minor adjustments (no more than twice), but Garrick appeared visibly frustrated by these small requested changes. He ultimately suggested skipping that piece and moving on to a different tattoo I had planned. I agreed, and we proceeded with a shoulder tattoo. Unfortunately, the final result looks sloppy and too soft compared to the reference I provided. Despite clearly communicating the style, shading, and level of detail I wanted — and even returning for a touch-up (that I also still had to pay for???) the tattoo came out very cartoonish, lacking detail, and overall appears sloppy. Because the piece is bigger and covers my shoulder, I will now need to seek another artist to add detail and texture to achieve the look I originally requested. Again, I have had many positive experiences at Southside Tattoo in the past, from tattoos to body piercings, spending hundreds overall, this one in particular was very disappointing. Based on this experience, I would advise others to be cautious and ensure strong alignment on expectations before booking. I can’t believe I spent over $500 on this tattoo!!
