"Art collective" is absolutely the correct terminology to describe Odyssey. You could blindly let anyone there work on you and you'd come out with an amazing piece of art (not just "a tattoo"). They've created something special, it's insane that literally everyone there is such high caliber. The shop is extremely clean and everyone has been kind. Every single project I've seen come out of this place is unbelievably good! I have one piece from Alexis (love it so much) and am currently working with Alex on a cover-up (loving it so far), and every time I've been there the other artists are also doing some of the coolest things I've ever seen. Highly recommend- this place is obviously on another level.

If you're searching for a tattoo artist, they have an award-winning roster comprised of experts that specialize in all different styles. If you're here for piercings, you're in luck with the massive selection of jewelry to choose from and top-notch piercers. I was humbled by the opportunity for Maryssa to accept me as a client with a massive project—a full Alice in Wonderland sleeve and chest cover-up that needed to weave in some very specific, deeply personal memorial elements. We collaborated on the design back and forth via email for a bit, and then I came in for an in-person consultation to complete the design and shape it perfectly to my body. I fully trusted her design style and her freedom as an artist to come up with a stunning piece that fit my vision. The level of detail she puts into every element, constantly making small design improvements as we progress on the sleeve, is just unreal. Sitting for heavy, all-day color sessions is brutal, but Maryssa’s compassion, humor, and down-to-earth personality make it an amazing experience each session. The vibe at the shop is fantastic. While Maryssa is my artist, over the course of my multiple sessions and visits, I’ve had the privilege of listening to and watching all of the other artists interact with their customers. All of them are true professionals, and every tattoo I've seen them complete is an absolute masterclass. That's likely why you've found this shop and are reading this review. The Odyssey Art team has an artist for every style of tattoo, and the crew they have put together is phenomenal! Shout out to Maryssa and Shaun for everything they've accomplished with the space and their family. My wife has also gotten multiple piercings at the studio, so huge kudos to the piercing team as well. They took great care of her, provided a flawless experience, and carry premium piercing products. I couldn't be happier with this shop and how my sleeve is coming together.

Not your average tattoo and piercing shop. I recently got both my nose and philtrum pierced here, and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. I hadn’t had a piercing done in about 17 years, so while this wasn’t my first piercing, it had been long enough that I really appreciated how comfortable and professional the process was. The shop itself immediately stands out. It’s bright, clean, well-organized, and has such a welcoming energy. From the moment I walked in, everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions while helping me choose jewelry. One thing I especially appreciated was that my piercings were done freehand rather than with clamps. It made the experience feel much more comfortable and natural, and it was clear I was in the hands of someone with a lot of skill and confidence in their craft. The actual piercing process was quick, smooth, and far easier than I remembered. Every step felt thoughtful and professional, and I never felt rushed. What really sets this shop apart is the atmosphere. Great energy, great people, and a space that makes you want to come back. I’ll absolutely be returning for future piercings and tattoos because experiences like this are hard to find. Tdlr; overall, I had a great experience at Odyssey Art Collective and would recommend them, with one small caveat. My first appointment was amazing! I was pierced by Emity and also had an ear curation session with Kaitlin. Both were wonderful to work with. There's also a great jewelry selection, which made the whole experience even better. My follow-up/downsizing appointment, however, was not great. I had originally been scheduled with Emity, but when I arrived I found out there was a guest piercer instead. That in itself wasn't really an issue, but I do think it would have been helpful to know ahead of time so I could have decided whether to keep or reschedule my appointment. The guest piercer may have simply been having an off day (which happens; we're all human), but they seemed like they could not care any less; they were dismissive of my questions nor did they provide much guidance on when I should consider downsizing again. To be clear, I don't hold that experience against Odyssey as a whole, especially since my interactions with the permanent staff were so positive. The lack of communication around the piercer change, combined with that particular appointment experience, unfortunately did make me move to a different studio within the Triangle. That said, I still think Odyssey's permanent staff are excellent and my overall experience was positive. My only suggestion would be to give clients a heads-up if their scheduled piercer changes.

I have never been to a more beautiful studio. They have hit the mark on everything, including the smallest detail. Huge selection of jewelry, amazing tattoo artist. Alexis did my sleeve and still looks incredible years later. I get compliments on it EVERY SINGLE TIME I GO ANYWHERE.
