I was tattooed by Thompson the guy that focuses on hyper realism and while he does amazing tattoos, his customer service and communication is actually really awful. My tattoo was supposed to be a cover up, and the buildup to the day of the tattoo was just extremely underwhelming. I kept texting to follow up and ask if he had a design ready, and he never really had any design ready until the day of the tattoo. On the day of the tattoo he was just rushing to get me to agree with a design. I ended up just agreeing because I felt pressured (which was my own fault), and I continuously asked him if he would be able to cover up the tattoo that we had agreed to cover up. The design he chose did not cover up the whole tattoo, just ended up peeking through the most important part of the main design, the face. While the tattoo was absolutely stunning, the execution and placement was god awful because now I have a tattoo of a face with letters on it. I let it go and just sucked it up because I really messed up agreeing to this design. THEN, a few days after I took off the healing cover, I message Thompson again to mention that some of the tattoo’s parts were unfinished and faded, if he would do me the favor of just touching up on them. Not a care in the world for his work, as he said he would let me know when to come in, and never did. I followed up twice to get him to touch up on HIS work, and he said the same thing - he would let me know. It’s been a good 4 months and he has not cared to “let me know”. I’m assuming at this point he cares even less because he received my money anyway. So all in all, pretty disappointed, sure I got a decent piece but it failed to serve its purpose. I would NOT recommend Thompson for a cover up, and I recommend if you do decide to get tattooed by him, be strict, stern, and don’t let him rush you. He’s told me he’s had hiccups and issues with previous clients and that should’ve been my red flag.
