I’m really disappointed with my experience here. I came in to have my nose piercing stretched by one gauge, and during the removal of my jewelry, it was damaged. My jewelry was a threaded nose screw that needed to be unscrewed. I explained this multiple times beforehand, and the piercer reassured me that she understood. This piece is unique but when I tell piercers that it needs to be unscrewed, they usually get it or ask me to do it. The red haired piercer here , I think her name is Izzy, did not ask me any questions even if she was struggling to remove it. Hot Box’s old piercer, Kylee, was able to unscrew it for me safely and if she had questions, she asked. I did not leave the store with a damaged jewelry in that scenario. I have also given it to a different piercer at a different store and i still didn’t leave with a damaged jewelry. The piercer at this store yesterday reassured me she knew what she was doing and I could not even see what she was doing. While I was seated, she stepped away to another area of the room to use a tool to remove it. I couldn’t see what was happening, but I continued to mention that it needed to be unscrewed. I trusted her. When she returned, the jewelry was already bent and no longer able to unscrew. She then asked me to try to remove the top myself and offered to replace the bent bottom part, but it was completely stuck at that point. She then pulled on it and said she had removed it, but in reality, the piece had been broken. The structure was completely altered, the screw portion had shifted to the bottom instead of the top and the jewelry no longer functions at all. This was not costume jewelry. It was an 18K gold nose pin with diamonds, valued at around $130. It was a gift from my mother and the only piece of jewelry she has gifted me with so much love. While I understand that thin gold can bend if handled incorrectly, this went beyond a simple bend, the piece was structurally damaged and is now unusable. What was most discouraging was how the situation was handled afterward. When I returned the next day to calmly explain what happened and show proof of the jewelry’s material and value, my concerns were dismissed. She just kept saying I watched her do it when in reality she stepped aside to the other section of the room which I could not see. She also said I should have showed how to do it when multiple times she reassured me she knew how to do it when I told her it needs to be unscrewed .I even offered once to show her how to do it. I understand that mistakes can happen, but I would have appreciated more care during the removal process and a willingness to acknowledge the situation or offer some kind of resolution. I left feeling unheard and disappointed. I am not angry, I am just disappointed.
