The Mermaids Muse

I have been a client of Mermaids Muse for three years now. I love the shop and the vibe it has! The entire team is amazing and the creativity is unmatchable. Kaylee has been my artist since the first appointment. I had a chest tattoo from a shop in Jersey that no one would touch because it was crooked, Kaylee took on the challenge when she was still starting out, since then she has expanded my chest piece, added to my sleeves, she’s tattooed a moth, a traditional butterfly babe on my leg, and did a beautiful job on my hands. I wouldn’t want to be tattooed anywhere else. Thanks to Kaylee my vision of feminine and dainty tattoos is coming together🩵

Amber did matching tattoos for my friend and I and it was such a great experience overall. It was my first tattoo so I was a little nervous but she made me feel so comfortable. Also her artistry is wonderful and I’m truly impressed with what she came up with based off what we asked for! I’m in love 😻

I was tattooed by Amber today and she truly went above and beyond with the tattoo design and the tattoo itself. I’ve been wanting a glitter tattoo for the longest and jigglypuff is my favorite pokemon so I figured she’s the best one to start my glitter tattoo journey with. The tattoo didn’t take long at all and Amber was super nice about everything. I can’t wait to go back and be tattooed by her again!

I attended the Friday the 13th/Valentine’s Day flash sale. I loved the vibe of the shop and all of the staff I interacted with were super friendly. I got there at 8:30pm and even though my artist Amber had been tattooing literally all day she still met me with great, positive energy and finished my tattoo super quick. She gave me tons of info about the shop and future events there and my tattoo turned out amazing. It’s actually probably my favorite tattoo now. I will definitely be returning for more work and hope that tons of people come and get tattoos here as well!

I honestly hate having to do something like this because I always wanna see the good in everything, but I unfortunately had a bad experience and it's been hard to live with this (it's honestly taken me months to do this). The first time I came to the shop for a tattoo, I got a matching dainty angel number with my girlfriend, and mine was perfect (I still love it). My girlfriend got the same thing, just a different font than mine, and it came out a little patchy because she was bleeding. So on a second appointment, she got it filled again, but to this day it's still patchy. One of the many red flags that we chose to ignore since it's something that you can fix, but who wants to go multiple times to get something touched up? The second time we went, my girlfriend participated in a "however many tattoos you can fit in an hour" deal that they had going on. It was still a good experience, just a few minor details that she didn't like in a few of the tattoos but still fixable. Still, we wanted to give the place another chance because we loved the vibes, the artist was nice and seemed accommodating, which we really liked. So, our third and last time we came with a friend from out of town to do something special, and this was by far the worst experience. We had made an appointment a few weeks prior, sent a deposit and sent a bunch of reference pictures too. Another red flag is that we came in on time and the artist had nothing ready, no sketches. We had to send the reference pictures AGAIN and wait for her to do the designs in front of us. She tattooed our friend first and it came out cute, it was a silly manta-ray, but it was made to look like a little pancake. Honestly, adorable and I don't have much to say (if she has thoughts about it, I'm not aware of them, so this is just my judgement). But also, came to find out she tattooed the same design on somebody else, just in a different color? I think that's kinda disrespectful since it was our friend's original idea. My girlfriend was next and she got a very sentimental tattoo, it was something her grandma wrote to her and in her handwriting. It came out alright, it's just a little patchy and a little shaky, which kinda sucks considering it's something sentimental but still something that can be fixed and doesn't look too bad. I was the one who got tattooed last, and to say the least, I'm completely heartbroken about it and have to get it covered up somewhere else because I'm not coming back to this shop. I wanted my childhood dog in a little frame or locket with a little bow. I mentioned this idea the second time we came to the shop, and the tattoo artist told me to send her reference pictures, and she would see if she could come up with something and actually do it; she also said that if she couldn't do it, she would refer me to another tattoo artist in the same shop that specializes in pet portraits. Flash forward to the appointment; she doesn't say anything about not being able to do it, and she comes up with a design that I liked, so this whole time, I'm thinking that she can do it, bc if not, she would've said something. The stencil looked a little weird to me, but she said that portrait stencils looked like that and to not worry about it. She practically freehanded the whole thing because there was barely anything on the stencil for the dog part. Immediately after she was done, she told me that I needed to come for a second session because it wasn't finished, but after actually looking at the tattoo close up, I decided to not go back because of how bad it was. I literally had a really bad meltdown that same night because I couldn't believe how bad the tattoo came out. It doesn't look like my dog at all, the lines on the frame and bow are super shaky, and she went too deep in some parts. Really heartbreaking because it was supposed to be a really special tattoo and just had a lot of sentimental value to me. All this to say, trust your gut because it's gonna be on your s
