An overall incredible experience. Zach is such a professional. He listened well and then confidently took the lead from there. He exceeded expectations and I'm so happy with the result. Highly recommend this shop and it's so worth travelling for.

I’ve been contemplating making a review or not. I’m still pretty frustrated from getting my tattoo from this shop done by Steve a few weeks later. I drove 3 1/5 hours to Austin, Tx to get this piece. My appointment was scheduled for 12 which I was 5 minutes early but didn’t get started till 1:30pm. I sent references weeks in advance. This also isn’t my first tattoo. I have around 40 pieces. So not my first go around. Felt pretty pushed off and he has no conversation skills. I tried making small talk for the first 10 minutes into the tattoo and he clearly didn’t care for it. After an hour into my stomach piece I asked to take a break and he didn’t stop. I asked again and I can clearly tell he was not happy with it but damn my guy that shit obviously sucks. There was no clear communication about how far we were into it or how much longer we were going to be. Then all I got after I paid was “leave a review”. So here it is. Piece is done well but the experience ruined it. I won’t be coming back. Also pricing is pretty steep. Especially for no clear communication and pushing the appointment an hour and a half behind.

I had an incredible experience at Mainstay Tattoo in North Austin! From the moment I walked in, the shop had a welcoming and laid-back vibe, and the entire team was friendly and professional. I had the pleasure of working with Cory, who did an absolutely stunning dragon tattoo for me. Not only is he an incredibly talented artist, but he’s also one of the nicest and most professional people I’ve met. He took the time to understand exactly what I wanted, made thoughtful suggestions to enhance the design, and executed it flawlessly. His attention to detail and precision were next-level, and I could tell he genuinely cares about his work and his clients. The whole process—from consultation to aftercare—was smooth and stress-free. The shop itself is clean, well-organized, and has a great atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and confident in their work. If you’re looking for top-tier tattoo artistry in Austin, I can’t recommend Mainstay Tattoo enough. And if you have the chance to book with Cory, do it—you won’t be disappointed!

Best shop from the best artists, period. If you want classic art that will last a lifetime, Mainstay is where it’s at. One of the smartest things I ever did was invest in tattoos from Zach. You can be smart too. Nothing but great times getting great art. While Zach is my go-to, every artist I’ve met at the shop has been likewise talented and extremely nice. My only regret is that I can’t get back to this shop nearly as often as I want to.

I’ve been a client of Zach for the past couple years, and did a full sleeve with him. We finally finished today and I couldn’t be any happier. So much so, that I will be returning for a second sleeve in the future. If you want peace of mind in good results, you better come here. Don’t waste your time searching elsewhere, you found it here!
