This place is incredible from the style in shop to the energy of the artists it's a excellent place to get work done especially Traditional Japanese pieces. Marcus has great history and experience! Even with me being so new to getting some solid tattoo work after talking size and placement of what I wanted he was more than willing to figure it out and give me facts of why this size or this placement might night work. I felt really comfortable talking to him and asking him questions after that. He is there to make sure YOU are satisfied he very disciplined and structured with a stillness that just adds to the spirit he and the shop put off, This is now my Tattoo shop!! It is a boon to the American Japanese community, Marcus is more than willing to educate and share the qualities of life he has lived and learned. The tattoo itself was incredible the process professional, I got all the information for aftercare and even talked tattoo myths with him without any judgement just laughs and good times. Again, incredible. Thank you again to Marcus and the Tomoe crew in shop and I will see you guys again for the next one!

These guys totally know what's up, imo they are THE irezumi shop of SLC. I highly recommend Marcos Chang for trad irezumi work, dude is super awesome, very talented and just straight up humble. Of course they'll tat whatever you want, but imo part of getting a tat is letting go control a bit to the artist and afford them to work how they can best within their style, especially a trad irezumi/horimono style. You can put full faith in marcos to construct something absolutely banger and interesting while still being completely traditional 🙏 He spent a ton of time with me to help me decide what I wanted, and is extremely knowledgeable about the deeper meanings/history of the yokai and folklore motifs to help me decide what was also meaningful to me. Ive learned so much about the culture and history of irezumi and japanese folklore from my sessions here. Love coming here.

My family walked in looking to get 2 tattoos and this shop was unbelievably nice, welcoming and quick to service us. We had Yogi, who did a FANTASTIC job but after looking around a bit, I would recommend anyone here! Yogi was so fun to talk with, is incredibly talented, and made the process so smooth and seamless. If you're one who worries about pain, Yogi is perfect for you! His touch is light enough to not hurt but still firm enough give you a beautiful piece that won't need touch-ups. I live in a different state but will definitely be coming back here next time I visit. I can't say enough positive remarks about Tomoe Tattoo, easily my new favorite shop.

If you're looking for top-tier Japanese traditional tattoos, Tomoe Tattoo is the spot. This place is sick—walking in feels like stepping into a rad art gallery filled with bold, vibrant Japanese designs. Every piece on the walls is a masterpiece, and the vibe is just next level! The artists here are seasoned pros, and it shows in their work. Marcos hooked me up with my leg and arm sleeve, and I couldn’t be happier. His line work is crisp, his shading is smooth, and he absolutely nailed the traditional Japanese aesthetic. The whole process was professional!

Marcos Chang is a first-class tattooist whose work has been complimented nationwide as we travel, and even gotten compliments from Spain, Portugal and Turkey while we traveled. I've been his customer since he was in Heart of Gold, then Look Look, Momiji and now here. His skills have steadily improved and having lived in NY, VA, IL, UT and now MN, been in tattoo conventions to see what our country has to offer, I can say with some confidence his Japanese traditional tattoos are some of the best in the country. Highly recommended! If you want a good Japanese traditional tattoo in Salt Lake City, he is one of a few I would highly suggest you go to!!
