I had a really upsetting experience here that I still regret a year later. My partner at the time and I went in for small tattoos and thought it would be fun to pick designs for each other. Before we got tattooed, I specifically told the artist that if we happened to pick the same design, please let us know because we did not want matching tattoos. The artist agreed. The artist then suggested we get blindfolded while being tattooed since we were picking the designs for each other, and we went along with it because we trusted that they understood the boundary we had clearly stated. Afterward, once we unwrapped the tattoos, we realized we had gotten the exact same design. When I went back to the artist about it, he laughed and told me that everyone in the shop, including customers, had been laughing because we had picked the same ones. That was incredibly unprofessional. This was permanent body art, not a joke. I clearly communicated that we did not want matching tattoos, and instead of respecting that or saying something before tattooing us, the artist knowingly let it happen and treated it like entertainment. At the time it felt awkward and embarrassing. Now, after that relationship ended badly, I am left with a matching tattoo I never consented to having. I understand that tattoo choices are ultimately personal, but in this case, I gave a very clear instruction before anything permanent happened, and it was ignored. I would not recommend this shop to anyone who expects their boundaries, consent, or instructions to be taken seriously.
