Every time I come and see Emily I’m SO happy with her work. Not only is she super professional and a great artist but she strives to make her clients feel comfortable and heard! I’ll be coming to see her until I die 💖

I’ve been getting tattooed by Micheal Manarino (gray fox) (@manarino_tats on insta) for years and he never fails to amaze! The shop is cute and cozy and filled with other amazing artists I’ve also been tattooed by such as Milla (lucky rabbit’s foot) and Emily (hourglass) ( @priness.guts and @Emilystattoos on insta ). The shop itself is easy to find and in a pretty walkable area. The space is clean and full of art, knickknacks and personality from each resident at the shop. Also Metro lite rail is about block a so it’s great for public transit goers. Contacting the artiest was easy as well. I DMed the artiest on instagram for a consultation, if it wasn’t a preset flash price and gave an ideal budget. Some of artists had me go to a scheduling site to confirm and send a deposit and the appointment was booked. My artist always gave me aftercare instructions no matter busy it got and always insured I was comfortable throughout the whole process. Even reapplying the stencil and editing the design if needed on the fly if needed. The other artists may walk around and ask questions, hype each other up and admire the process so keep that in mind and ask if they have more private sessions. It is a very calm atmosphere but every artist works differently within their space. I paid with Zelle, so check with the artiest before hand to see what options they take. They mainly are appointments based, but walking is welcome.

Emily is so talented, kind, and just overall amazing. She has done an amazing job on all my tattoos. This shop has such unique talents and a variety of different styles. Every artist I have interacted with has been a positive experience. Will keep coming back.

The absolute best tattoo shop in LA. The chillest, cutest vibe with the nicest and most laid-back yet knowledgeable and professional artists. I always feel safe and relaxed getting tattooed here: Every artist (and every client I’ve encountered, for that matter) is respectful and kind, and the vibe is immaculate. Good music, killer art, and nobody is being weird - the trifecta! I’ve been getting tattoos from Milla and Emily for almost 5 years and couldn’t be happier with their work. Both of them are absolutely stellar artists and are so collaborative - they always make my ideas come to life, and their flash feels like it was plucked from my brain. All of my tattoos from Nine Lives have healed brilliantly and remain vibrant and high-color. People ask me all the time if tattoos I’ve received multiple years ago are recent because of how vivid they are! Milla and Emily are highly reachable and responsive; any question I’ve ever had about aftercare or the healing process was answered promptly and comprehensively. Nine Lives is the only place I go for tattoos anymore. Well worth the drive from North Hollywood, and their new Chinatown space is an awesome location. Thanks guys for being the absolute best!

The whole crew at Nine Lives is incredible - every artist is distinct and they cultivate a very welcoming and comfy vibe at the shop. No attitude, gatekeeping or snobbery to be found here...just great art and artists doing their thing. I love this shop so much that me, my brother and my niece have all got tattoos here - so don't hesitate to get some immaculate art on your body temple here!
