The Holy Scythe is so welcoming. I feel so comfortable here. The artists here are incredible! Great environment, the vibe is good. This is the place I direct to whenever I'm asked about tattoo work in San Jose. Be sure to book with Rebecca, Sarah, Tessia, Niall, Matt, and Ray! Rebecca is the shit! Muah!

A real 5 star experience! Got my first tattoo there (a relatively basic line drawing), and everyone was extremely kind and helpful walking me through the process. I contacted Tessia a couple days before from their website, and we made an appointment through text. She was very prepared: she was ready right on time, and had printed 3 different sized versions of the design I requested for me to look at. Also incredibly patient with me when I got it re-stenciled 5 times before committing to the final piece. She also offered to alter the design when I was feeling indecisive which was very kind (though I didn't end up taking her up on this). Additionally, other artists weighed in and helped me, and even gave me a stress ball when I asked for it while getting inked. The rates were very fair as well. Once completed, Tessia gave me great instructions on how to take care of the finished piece. Could not think of a way to make it better, except maybe it would be nice if they had some tattoo cleaning supplies on offer in store, but after a quick trip to target I have everything I need, so its not that inconvenient. Highly recommend!

LOVE this shop. I cannot say anything bad. Matt Tillman created the most beautiful, personalized sleeves for me; memorials to those I have lost. I recommend The Holy Scythe to everyone who asks where I have gotten my work done. 100% the best 3 years going to this shop. You will not leave unhappy. Matt, I am forever grateful for the beautiful work you have created on my arms. I will definitely be back!

Love this place! Been going to Matt since before Holy Scythe and he's always crushed it. Nothing but the highest recommendation. He even helped repair a few spots after I had surgery from an injury that misaligned after the stitches healed (hence the scaring in the water near the ankle). Thanks for always crushing it! Looking forward to the next one!
